Case Study for the implementation of structured
LAN, WLAN & Microsoft Server 2003 Solution in a Primary School
Introduction:
This case study aims to describe the benefits of a primary school implementing a structured and well designed LAN, WLAN and Microsoft Server 2003 Solution, and highlight why DIS should be considered and chosen as a long term partner to deliver these solutions.

DIS has substantial Installation experience spanning some 24 years. With our own in house design and Engineering teams working on a daily basis within the Commercial, Retail, Manufacturing, Foods, Education, Health, Local Government, Home Office and Ministry of Defence Sectors.

The Problems:
Decisions needed to be made about which system would suit the school. Laptops or PCs, wireless strengths around the building and future plans for ICT development were all up for consideration. Price of course was a factor but Ranskill were determined to chose a company they could trust and rely on, with whom they could build a working relationship on an ongoing basis.
The Solution:
DIS installed a wireless network which enabled internet access anywhere in the school. The laptops provided were robust and last well considering that they are in daily use by children.
The Outcome:
Ranskill are in a position to meet the Government and County requirement for all schools to be part of a learning platform by 2012. Any changes will happen slowly, things will develop to suit the needs of the school community but all communications, including that with parents, will be electronic; networks will be linked to improve efficiency and any future security issues will be given highest priority.
